Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient  method of applying thin needles along precise acu-points on the body to open blocked off energetic pathways. This relieves numerous aches and pains and encourages the natural harmony within the body that is essential for good health and wellbeing.

Acupuncture as a form of treatment has been followed in mainland China for as long as 4000 years. The Chinese view our bodies as possessing 2 opposite and complementing forces - the Yin (negative) and the Yang (positive). While these 2  forces remain balanced,  the energy in the body, the "Chi", runs freely along pathways  referred to as meridians. Disharmony and imbalance disrupts the Ch'i and leads to illness. Once the acupuncturist inserts the fine acupuncture needle in the right acu-point on the appropriate meridian, it draws on the body's normal energy stream and rebalances and harmonizes Yin and Yang allowing the body to experience harmony and wellbeing.

What you should expect in your initial acupuncture treatment?

During your 1st consultation, you'll be expected to provide a complete medical history and to outline your existing symptoms. Glenn works holistically treating all of you rather than merely the presenting complaint. Working from the basis that each person responds in their own personal way to a specific condition and likewise to the specific treatment.

If it's your first time having acupuncture you may be feeling a little anxious about the needles, but there's no need. They're so thin that you'll scarcely detect them being inserted barely under the skin, and when in position, you experience little feeling or no sensation at all. Once the needles are in place, you are allowed to relax for as long as anything from half-hour to  60 minutes.

Each and every needle used are always brand-new and totally sterile. You'll generally be lying down (although you can be treated sitting) on the massage table in a private treatment room. A lot of patients fall fast asleep and can experience a slightly groggy sensation following the treatment. Typically patients report a deep feeling of calmness and well-being that can last  for hours afterward. A frequent after effect to an acupuncture treatment is a vast improvement in your overall sleeping patterns and a significant boost in your energy levels.

Relief At Last

A  truly great aspect of acupuncture is it's ability to help with drug-free pain relief. It provides a more healthful option to the pain you have been undergoing through re-positioning your complete system back on course by adjusting all your body's energy imbalances.

Scientific enquiry has discovered that acupuncture arouses the nervous system and that the procedure discharges endorphins, which help to  block off painful sensations being transmitted to the brain.

Your energy flow rate may be interrupted by both emotional trauma and physical injury. Stress, anger, anxiousness, fearfulness and sorrow can  cause as much disease as a physiological trauma. Irrespective of the cause your condition can be treated successfully with acupuncture

Numerous ailments can be addressed with acupuncture, including: arthritis, bronchial asthma, headaches and "sick headache", depressive disorders, migraine, circulation problems, muscle spasms and pain , diseases of the skin, constipation, sporting injuries and general tension and stress  etc.

Far from being something that just fixes things when they are broken, many people book a number off acupuncture treatment sessions as a 'pick-me-up' or 'energy boost' to help balance out their often too busy, stressful lifestyles or to simply fend off those "down feelings" that many of us experience with our busy day to day living.
