Musculoskeletal Therapy

Musculoskeletal Therapy is a therapy designed to treat the muscles and skeletal system using various soft tissue and mobilisation (not manipulation) techniques.

Used in the treatment and the rehabilitation of back pain, neck pain, joint pain, muscular dysfunction and/or injuries, musculoskeletal techniques incorporate a varied amount of “hands on” remedial and mobilization techniques as well as home stretching and strengthening exercises.  This assists in maintaining functional alignment of the skeletal system.

A consultation consists of a postural analysis, checking overall range of movement using passive (practitioner moving) and active (patient assisted movement) testing, the use of musculoskeletal techniques and a home stretching program is given. Remedial massage or nutritional suppliments (eg magnesium) may also be prescribed for a short period to assist rehabilitation.
